Native. as you are

Designing a more intentional way to build meaningful relationships.

Native is a compatibility-first relationship product inspired by the philosophy of Ikigai. Working closely with the founder, I translated that vision into an end-to-end product experience — from UX strategy and information architecture to interaction and visual design.

The Opportunity

Finding people wasn't the problem. Understanding them was.

Modern dating platforms have made meeting people easier than ever, but they often prioritize first impressions over genuine compatibility. Conversations lose momentum, matches become overwhelming, and meaningful relationships are left to chance. Native set out to explore a more intentional way of helping people connect.

01
First impressions happen too quickly.
Appearance became the primary factor before personality had a chance.
02
Compatibility comes too late.
Shared values and emotional alignment were rarely part of the experience.
03
Conversations lack depth.
Most matches never progressed beyond surface-level interactions.
A Different Approach

The biggest difference happens before the first match.

Native shifts the focus from first impressions to genuine understanding, making compatibility the beginning of the journey rather than the outcome.

Today's Experience

Connection begins with first impressions.

Decisions are made within seconds using only a few visible details.

1. Browse profilesExplore people one profile at a time.
2. Make a quick decisionSwipe left to pass or right to like.
3. Wait for a mutual likeA match only happens if both people like each other.
4. Start the conversationThe real connection begins after matching.
5. Hope it turns into something meaningful

The Core Experience

Designing identity beyond the profile.

Traditional profiles introduce people through photos and short bios. Native introduces people through personality, shared values, and compatibility, giving every interaction a stronger foundation.

Behind the Experience

Every interaction was intentional.

Building Native wasn't just about designing screens. It was about understanding how people build trust, structuring a complex relationship journey, and refining every interaction until the experience felt effortless.

01

Understanding People

Instead of starting with features, I started with emotions — exploring how people experience trust, curiosity, and connection, and letting those insights shape every product decision.

02

Structuring the Experience

Complex relationships need a clear structure. I mapped every journey into a single connected system, so each interaction builds logically on the last.

Design Exploration

Every idea moved through rough sketches, structured wireframes, and refined UI before earning its place in the product. Iteration wasn't a phase — it was the process.

Outcomes & Reflection

Designing beyond the interface.

Native is currently in development, but the project established a clear product vision, a complete end-to-end experience, and a foundation for a dating platform centered on compatibility, trust, and meaningful connections rather than endless swiping.

Product Vision
Defined a clear product philosophy focused on compatibility over first impressions.
End-to-End Experience
Designed the complete user journey from onboarding to meaningful conversations.
Scalable Foundation
Created reusable components and interaction patterns to support future product growth.
Differentiated Experience
Introduced features like the Native Card and delayed video reveal to encourage more intentional relationships.
Reflection

Looking back.

This project reminded me that great products aren't built by adding more features—they're built by aligning every interaction with a clear purpose. Every design decision, from compatibility matching to conversation starters and the delayed video reveal, was guided by one question: How can technology help people build more genuine human connections? Designing Native strengthened my ability to think beyond screens and design experiences that support meaningful user outcomes.

Designed with intention. Built for meaningful connections.
